Paused Redetermination Drives Up Medicaid Enrollment
Based on monthly federal and state reports, Medicaid enrollment in 2020 has increased in 49 of the 50 states (and in Washington, D.C.), due in large part to the current pause in redetermination.1
Because redetermination applies in all states, current growth in Medicaid is not limited to those that expanded eligibility; several non-expansion states are growing faster than the national average (~2.0%).
